Howard is the founder of Beacon Communities. In his current position as Chairman of the Board, Howard continues to oversee company strategy and growth. Prior to joining Beacon in 1996, Howard provided legal counsel to real estate developers and public agencies, was a partner for fifteen years with the law firm Mintz, Levin, Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky, and Popeo, P.C., and was general counsel at the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency and the Cambridge Housing Authority.
Howard started his career as a staff attorney at the Massachusetts Law Reform Institute. He currently sits on the boards of the Massachusetts Housing Investment Corporation, the Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association of Greater Boston, the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency Advisory Committee, and the Department of Housing and Community Development Housing Preservation Advisory Committee. He is a past co-chair of the board of Hebrew Senior Life, a not-for-profit housing and health care provider and research center that is the Harvard Medical School affiliate for Gerontology.
Howard holds a BA summa cum laude in economics from Washington University of St. Louis and a JD cum laude from Harvard Law School. Howard was also a Loeb Fellow at the Harvard University Graduate School of Design.Back to Team
